Where is MySQL-Sandbox? It should be mentioned among the tools.
Mysqlsandbox.net
Of course yes, shame on me !
Added right now, thx for your contribution
AFAIK, MySQL 5.6 does have materialized views
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/faqs-views.html#qandaitem-B-6-1-5
AFAIK no !
Just a dream, sorry for mistake…
Thx
Aha! You’ve got yourself into a bottomless pit!
Thank you for listing mycheckpoint & common_schema; perhaps openark-kit as well?
Yes, but I’ll try to do my best :-)
openark-kit added, thx Shlomi and sorry to have forgotten it.
Your options leave a lot out, is there a reason why?
For example:
Therea are at least 20 monitoring tools, Ganglia is just one key one missing.
Pythian/Blue Gecko are service providers
RDS is a MySQL distribution (be it not always ideal)
Redis a key NoSQL missing
Performance_schema and optimizer_trace 2 very nice 5.6 features (partitioning has 1 ‘n’ BTW)
Yes there is : Instinct !
Sometimes we think about something and the next minute we did it…
Is there any chance to vote for Sphinx ? I’m jealous! ;-) Thanks!
Unfortunately not !
Sphinx is a very great product but I didn’t find a box to put it.
Hard to cover all available solutions.
Drizzle isn’t a distribution of MySQL, it’s most certainly a fork… so it could never be “the best MySQL distribution” because it isn’t one.
Hi Stewart, yes, it’s true !
But the poll said : “Best MySQL based distribution”
The “based” term is for fork or derived MySQL distribution, sorry if it is not clear enough.
Thx for your comment.
I was missing OSC (online schema changes) as one of the option for best MySQL community tools!
MySQL MMM is missing: http://mysql-mmm.org
Yop, done (but perhaps too late).
Thx
@Monty, this is why openark-kit is on the list; oak-online-alter-table is part of it.
Also in Percona toolkit.
What about my MyQuery MySQL Query tools (Windows only, I know) in the MySQL GUI tools poll? (Available on http://sourceforge.net/projects/myquery/)
/Karlsson
Added !
Thx
Excellent initiative !
Thx !
Cedric,
Two question: i) why ‘Shooner Replication’ is on the list as it is not open source as far as I know and ii) what kind of policies you have in place to counter quite obvious vote rigging?
Cheers,
Eero
Indeed, there seems to be a problem. Let me carry out an investigation.
About open source now, you know, TokuDB, MONyog, MySQL Enterprise backup… are closed source too.
I don’t think that open source is always better than closed source.
I just would like to offer an overview of the most used tools.
I’ll publish a new post this week about these awards, so, stay tune.
Cedric,
In that case for all fairness you should have posted our premier commercial clustering solution, Tungsten Enterprise on the ballot.
Since based on title these should be “Community Awards” I automatically assumed that all solution also should be open source. But that conclusion is obviously my bad, not yours.
Eero
Yes, I understand it can be a problem.
I used the word “community” wrongly. I meant “MySQL+ Readers Choice Awards”.
